To avoid confusion when shopping for fragrances, here are some common used terms that all refer to the strength of the fragrance, or more specifically the ratios of water and alcohol that has been added to the fragrance oils.
• Eau de Parfum: Lasts 4 to 8 hours. 8% - 15% perfume oil
• Eau de Toilette: Lasts 3 to 6 hours. 4% - 10% perfume oil
• Eau de Cologne: Lasts up to 3 hours. 2% - 5% perfume oil
• After Shave: Lasts 2 to 3 hours. 3% or less perfume oil
